Poem #29 ~ Rewrite

29. (1-24-20, Lewiston High School) Rewrite (this is the result of me changing word-for-word the lyrics to No Surprises by Radiohead)

A blood-pumping organ stacked high like a dump

Toiling on and on to a creeping, dark death

Body busted, black and blue eternal

Your face appears so restless, so glum

Lead the rat-a-tat-tat against against the fat, fat cat

They’ve never quite meowed our tune

I’d rather live a silent existence

Hand to hand in solidarity, donning a safety mask

No pang of wake-up sirens and no sudden scares

Without wake-up sirens and sudden scares

Without wake-up sirens and sudden scares

Void of sound, void of sound

Here is my last convulsion

My last aching abdominal pain

A tremendously gorgeous abode

A tremendously gorgeous crop collection

Without wake-up sirens and sudden scares

Without wake-up sirens and sudden scares

Without wake-up sirens and sudden scares
